Screening of "Wild Life" a new documentary by Vasarhelyi and in conversation with Denise Xu

April 7, 2023

Saturday, April 8 at 7:00PM in McCosh 10, we welcome the community to join us in an advance showing of Wild Life, a new documentary by Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi ’00 and Jimmy Chin, who were awarded an Oscar for Free Solo

in 2018.

Produced by Little Monster Films and distributed by National Geographic Documentary Films, Wild Life will make its debut in a theatrical release later this month. The film has received rave reviews at SXSW and the Telluride Film Festivals.

Vasarhelyi will be in conversation with Denise Xu

of the Department of English and the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Program in the Humanities. After the film, Vasarhelyi has graciously offered to take questions from the audience.

Wild Life chronicles the close relationship of conservationist Kris Tompkins, who dedicated her life to protecting wild life, and her husband Douglas Tompkins, an outdoorsman and entrepreneur who helped pioneer outdoor brands Patagonia

The North Face, and Esprit, and who together, spanning decades of work, created national parks throughout Chile and Argentina

and preserved one of the last wild places on Earth by making the largest private land donation in history.

This screening is part of Princeton’s Youth Climate & Conservation Summit 2023, which brings together young leaders in the climate activism movement, hailing especially from marginalized communities in the Global South, to share their experiences fighting for just solutions to environmental challenges. You can find more information at the YCCS Conference Site.

The conference is sponsored by the Princeton Conservation Society, an undergraduate student organization registered with the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students.
